Firing Guidelines
These guidelines apply to all firing services at the studio.
Please read them carefully before booking a firing.
Our aim is to ensure safe kiln operation, protect shared equipment, and maintain a fair working environment for everyone.

All standard firing options listed online are high-temperature firings.
Low-temperature firings are not available for online booking and must be approved in advance.The studio reserves the right to refuse work that is not suitable for our firing range or materials.

All work must be made independently and be suitable for electric kiln firing.
The studio reserves the right to refuse work that does not meet these guidelines.

Single item firing
Single item firing is for one individual ceramic piece.
This option is suitable for:
mugs
small bowls
cups
similar standalone items
The price covers standard high-temperature bisque or glaze firing for one piece.
If your item is significantly smaller, any overpayment will be credited towards your next firing.
If your item is larger than average, a price adjustment may apply.Final size assessment is done by the studio.

Shelf firing is for multiple pieces fired together or larger work that requires more space.
This option is suitable for:
several items fired as a group
larger bowls, plates, or vessels
sets or batches of work
Shelf firing is based on a standard kiln shelf (approximately 520mm).
All pieces must fit comfortably on one shelf with safe spacing.Final placement and loading are determined by the studio.

Firings are scheduled based on kiln availability and workload.
We do not offer guaranteed turnaround times
Typical turnaround is 1–3 weeks
During busy periods, turnaround times may be longer
Clients will be notified when work is ready for collection.

Only suitable materials may be fired in our kilns. Maximum temperature: 1320°C.
This includes:
Clay bodies appropriate for the selected firing temperature
Glazes suitable for electric kilns
Proper application of glazes and finishes
We reserve the right to refuse work made with:
unknown or unsuitable clay bodies
experimental or hazardous materials
excessive glaze application
materials that pose a risk to the kiln or kiln furniturem description

We operate a rolling firing schedule.
Booked dates confirm drop-off and acceptance into the firing queue.
Exact firing dates depend on kiln load, materials, and firing type.n
FIRING TYPES
Single item firing
For small-scale pieces.
Cups, bowls, compact forms.
Suitable when the piece fits easily in the kiln and requires no special conditions.

Shelf firing – Bisque
Bisque firing for multiple items sharing one kiln shelf.
Shelf size is standard. Pieces must fit safely on one shelf.

Shelf firing – Glaze
Glaze firing for multiple items sharing one kiln shelf.
Shelf size is standard. Pieces must be glazed correctly and fit safely on one shelf.
